Its a good sign when we find Realtors difficult to get ahold of. It usually means they are busy showing homes and writing offers! That seems to be the case for February and so far through March with a number of Realtors contacted reporting an uptick in activity. Activity has seemed to return to the upper end of the market with homes and condos being shown and sales taking place in the million-plus range. And, the difference between asking and selling is not as great (last year it reached 40%). Driving this has been increased activity with Canadian buyers once again. With the good news coming out with regards to their GDP output and their dollar nearly on par with the US dollar, they are coming down and buying real estate. Canadians as well, did not experience the drop in real estate prices that the US experienced, and in some cases, is still experiencing. Hopefully these two trends will continue.
